The Practice
About Benfeiv
A specialist South African FSP licensing and compliance practice, working exclusively with international financial firms entering the South African market.
A Word From the Founder
I started Benfeiv because I kept seeing the same problem: international firms with legitimate, well-capitalised businesses failing their South African FSP applications. Not because of who they were, but because of how the application was prepared.
The South African regulatory environment is specific. The FSCA has particular expectations about how a business plan should be structured, what a compliance manual should contain, and what the fit-and-proper assessment process looks like. These are not things you can learn from a template.
I have been working with the FSCA since before most of our clients had heard of it. I know what the regulator looks for, what triggers a query, and what turns a six-month process into an eighteen-month one.
More importantly, I know what it means to be personally accountable for a licence. The Key Individuals and Compliance Officers we supply put their names on your FSP licence. That is not a formality. It is a genuine professional and regulatory commitment.
Benfeiv is a small, specialist practice by design. I work directly with every client. I review every document. I manage every FSCA engagement. That is the only way I can stand behind the work.
If you are serious about South Africa, I would like to talk.

How We Work
Accountability
I put my name on every application. The Key Individuals and Compliance Officers we supply are personally accountable to the FSCA. That accountability is not something we outsource.
Specificity
Generic compliance templates are the most common reason FSP applications are delayed or rejected. Every document we produce is specific to your business model, your client profile, and your product set.
Directness
I will tell you if your application is not ready. I will tell you if your proposed KI has a fit-and-proper issue. I will tell you if the FSCA is likely to query a particular aspect of your structure. Early honesty saves time and money.
Narrow Mandate
Benfeiv does FSP licensing and ongoing compliance. That is all. We do not compete with your legal advisors, your tax advisors, or your auditors. We are specialists, not generalists.
The Practice
Benfeiv Financial Services (Pty) Ltd is a South African compliance consultancy authorised by the FSCA. We work exclusively with international financial firms including asset managers, trading firms, crypto asset businesses, and financial intermediaries entering or operating in the South African market.
We do not work with retail clients. We do not provide investment advice. We do not compete with our clients' legal advisors, tax advisors, or auditors. Our mandate is narrow by design: FSP licensing and ongoing compliance, done properly.
Our referral network includes DIFC-based law firms, Big 4 Africa practices, and cross-border compliance consultancies who refer international clients to us when South African FSP licensing is required. We treat every referral with the same standard of care we apply to our direct clients.
